Violent crimes: Arkansas man accused of stabbing wife

A man in Mountain Home is facing murder charges after police say his estranged wife was murdered on March 13. The 43-year-old Arkansas man, who allegedly has a history of violent crimes, has been arrested and is currently in custody with no bond set. Violent crimes of this nature, understandably, carry serious criminal consequences.

According to a probable cause affidavit filed in a county court, the man was allegedly holding a knife when he entered a store where his estranged wife worked. Video surveillance captured at the scene reportedly shows the man dragging the woman outside the store before apparently stabbing her several times. Employees at the store say the woman re-entered the store bleeding. She was rushed to a local hospital where she later died.

The wife had apparently filed for a protection order against her estranged husband, who she claimed had assaulted her in the past as well as breaking into her home and stalking her. The protection order had been slated to be in effect until February of next year. The man now stands charged with capital murder, terroristic threats, aggravated assault, false imprisonment and violation of a protection order.

Violent crimes carry a harsh penalty in Arkansas. If the man is found guilty, he could face considerable jail time. However, he is still entitled to face the charges filed against him with a criminal defense attorney who can help to build a case in his defense. Depending on the specifics of the case, there are several avenues defense lawyers can take to help represent the man in defending against such serious accusations.
