Woman in Arkansas accused of violent crimes

A mother in Poinsett County is under fire after police say they found her infant child dead, according to local sources. The 25-year-old woman has been charged with violent crimes by Arkansas authorities after family members found the body of the child in a dryer. If she is found guilty, she could go to prison for the rest of her life.

According to the report filed by local police, they were alerted to a potential issue involving a 1-month-old girl on May 29. Officers responding to the scene at a Poinsett County mobile home park said they entered the trailer and recovered the body of the child, who was reportedly found by her father inside the clothes dryer in the home. The Poinsett County Sheriff's Office has ruled the child's cause of death to be thermal injuries, suggesting the dryer was operating with the child inside of it.

Officers arrested the child's mother on-site. She has been charged with second degree murder, as well as abuse of a corpse. She was taken into custody and is currently being held against a $1 million bond. Upcoming court dates were not reported, though the accused individual is likely conferring with criminal defense counsel in preparation for the coming proceedings.

The death of a child is a horrific tragedy, particularly one who fell victim to violent crimes. Arkansas authorities will attempt to prosecute the mother in the death of her child, but they will need to provide solid evidence documenting her complicity or material contribution to the child's death. Her defense team will carefully study the facts of the case to determine the best options for responding to the formal accusations and protecting the rights of the accused woman.
