Arkansas man charged with alleged drug crimes

Police in Little Rock have announced the arrest of a man believed to have been involved in drugs. The Pulaski County Sheriff's Office has confirmed the arrest of the 47-year-old Arkansas man, who is facing charges for drug crimes. He was due in court on Feb. 1 and remained in police county without bond prior to the court date.

Police say that on Jan. 30, they searched an apartment in Little Rock believed to be the residence of the accused man. It is unclear what prompted this search, as no mention of an ongoing investigation was made. It is also unclear whether a warrant was obtained for this search. However, police say they found several pounds of what they believe to be methamphetamine, as well as two handguns.

The man was arrested and now faces charges for attempting to deliver a controlled substance, simultaneous possession of drugs and guns, and drug trafficking. All of these charges are felonies in Arkansas. If he is found guilty, the man could face years in prison.

Obviously, drug crimes are a serious blight on the state, and are typically punished to the fullest extent of the law. However, it remains the burden of Arkansas prosecutors to prove conclusively that the man was involved in drug trafficking, and that the substances found in his home were indeed methamphetamine meant for resale. The man's criminal defense counsel will likely look into the specifics of the case, including the search warrant (if any) and the particulars of the search, to assess whether the man's legal rights were respected throughout the investigation and arrest processes. Legal and factual issues will then be addressed before the court.
